Resources to help yourself

Morning sickness is unpleasant, but usually easy to treat. In addition to medical advice, information, discussion, and support can make everyday life much easier.

Points of contact

Medical and counseling points of contact

Gynecologists and midwives are the first point of contact for persistent nausea. They can provide individual advice, assess the severity, and recommend appropriate measures. In addition, there are a variety of other services available, some of which are listed here as examples. There are often regional or local contacts available.

Counseling centers for pregnant women

Pregnancy counseling centers offer low-threshold support, provide information about physical changes, and help women cope better with stress – even in cases of severe discomfort.

Forums

Reputable online forums and health portals enable you to exchange information with other affected individuals. Sharing experiences can be a relief, but it is no substitute for medical advice.

Self-help groups

Self-help groups – either local or online – offer a space for understanding and mutual support. Especially when nausea is severe, the feeling of not being alone can be helpful.

  • General pregnancy groups: through counseling centers (e.g., Caritas), as they often offer groups for various pregnancy topics
  • Schatten und Licht e.V.: Offers support for peripartum depression and anxiety disorders, which can often be accompanied by nausea
  • Online forums and Facebook groups: local midwives often have groups where pregnant women can exchange ideas.
